Harry K. Patton, who has been critically ill with influenza for over a week, died on Sunday evening. His case had been considered hopeless almost from the time he was stricken. All of his family had the same disease, and practically all at the same time. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday morning at Freedom Church by Rev. SK Fuson of Rockville. Interment in Freedom Cemetery. He was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Thomas F. Patton and was born 37 years ago in Browns Valley. He leaves a wife, formerly Miss Julia Whittington and 5 children, one girl and four boys. The eldest boy, Rufus is a student in Waveland High School. He was a brother of James and Charles Patton, and has one brother, George with the Army in France. He was a successful farmer, a good citizen and neighbor. - transcribed by kbz

Harry K. Patton died Sunday afternoon at 4:45 o’clock at his home one mile and a half north of Brown’s Valley. He was taken sick with influenza which later developed into pneumonia. He was an industrious man, a successful farmer. He leaves a wife and five children: Rufus, Mary, Ralph, Leroy, Frank, also father, mother, five brothers and three sisters. Mr. Patton was married to Miss Julia Florence Whittington in 1902. He was 37 years of age. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 at Freedom Church with burial at Freedom cemetery. Rev. SK Fuson will be in charge. – kbz
